Privacy Policy for Glico

Last updated: May 15, 2026

Introduction

Francesco Bianco (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Glico mobile application (the “Service”).

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data — including sensitive health data — when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

Information We Collect

Health Data You Enter

  • Blood Glucose Readings: values you log manually, including measurement context (fasting, post-meal, etc.), notes, and timestamps
  • Target Ranges: your custom target values per measurement context
  • App Settings: your preferences for units (mg/dL or mmol/L), notifications, and app behavior

Apple Health (HealthKit)

  • If you enable the Apple Health integration, Glico may read blood glucose data already stored in Health and write new readings back to Health
  • This data is stored exclusively in your Apple Health database and is governed by Apple’s privacy policies
  • We do not access, transmit, or store HealthKit data on external servers

Data We Don’t Collect

  • We do not collect personal information such as your name, email, or contact details
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone
  • We do not track your location
  • We do not sell your data to third parties

How We Use Your Data

Local Storage

  • All blood glucose readings and settings are stored locally on your device using SwiftData
  • Your health data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync

iCloud Sync (Optional)

  • If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud account via CloudKit
  • We cannot access your iCloud data — it is end-to-end encrypted by Apple
  • You can disable sync at any time from within the app

Notifications

  • If you enable reminders, Glico uses iOS local notifications — no data is transmitted externally
  • Notification preferences are stored locally on your device

Analytics

  • We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. feature usage, crash reports) to improve the app
  • No health data or personal information is included in analytics

HealthKit Data Usage

Glico uses HealthKit solely to provide the blood glucose tracking features described in the app. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than the features you explicitly activate. Health data is never shared with third parties.

Data Security

  • All local data is protected by your device’s security features (Face ID / Touch ID, device passcode)
  • iCloud data is encrypted using Apple’s industry-standard security systems
  • We do not operate external servers that store your health data

Your Rights

Data Control

  • You have full control over your blood glucose data
  • You can export your data as CSV directly from the app
  • You can delete all your data by removing the app, or by clearing your iCloud data from Settings

Analytics Opt-Out

  • You can disable analytics in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements

Children’s Privacy

Glico is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Medical Disclaimer

Glico is a data logging tool only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnose medical conditions, or replace your doctor or healthcare professional. Always consult a qualified healthcare specialist for any health-related decisions.
